BIRMINGHAM The second annual Birmingham Fashion Week will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8 through Sunday, Feb. 12, in conjunction with the Mercedes-Benz Marathon. By having these two great organizations join forces, Birmingham is in for a week like no other.
Its exciting to have a first class fashion event that will coincide with our race weekend, said Mercedes-Benz Marathon Weekend Race Chairman, Valerie McLean. With more than 35 percent of our runners coming from another state, offering events like Birmingham Fashion Week combined with our weekend race events gives the runners and volunteers an opportunity to make Birmingham a destination weekend.
BFW benefits Camp Smile-A-Mile, a year-round program for children in Alabama with cancer, along with Alabama Forever, an organization that was founded to help Alabama communities in need, in response to the April 27, 2011 tornadoes. The show begins on Wednesday with the Gus Mayer party and will be held in conjunction with the Mercedes-Benz Marathon, which benefits Kid One Transport, The Bell Center and The Service Guild of Birmingham.
